Landscapes, acrylics, New York. "This painting was totally unexpected. I hadn't planned on the colors or the composition. Obviously, a wild day -- a storm was brewing. I usually go out ready to see what's there -- in this case, dark clouds were grabbing at the sun, often totally obliterating it. Once in a while, it would appear. All of a sudden, the sun burst through and shot a ray down to the mountains. I thought, 'that's it!' and changed my composition. I stayed out until sunset and the sky grew redder. I curved the earth because it seemed so dramatic, like a fight between good and evil, or war of the worlds."
