Important contemporary figures; large, fine art pastels. "This unusually large pastel was conceived as a monumental figure standing in front of Bloomingdales, the famous department store (part of its signature "B" is behind her). Of major aesthetic and emotional interest to me, was the beauty of color and patterns of the dresses on the figure and in the store window. Rather than draw what was actually there, I hung three of Jessie’s beautifully patterned dresses in the studio, in addition to the one worn. At one time, we had a studio on Lexington Avenue across from Bloomingdales where we watched the window dressers change their displays. We also witnessed the ebb and flow of life on the street, the traffic, pedestrians and politicians who set up shop in front of the store."
