Desert Cumulus...A Poem
clenched into bloodlessness, clenched in magnificence. parching life's reprieve, A sonora dove's soprano call; chipmunk, pale stripe down its side, stretch full length upon the ground. Then on hind legs like a little man, hands to chest, a peddler Doves roost, sparrows fly, palo verde bloom the last defined by sun and shade, Late afternoon long shadows; through sun-dappled weeds; from the cooler-water pool. amid peeling brown boughs. players on the desert stage, backdrop of noble clouds, all in the arms of...immensity.
